The Cindy Sherman exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art starts today! If you live in the area, make sure to see it, especially since this is the last stop of the touring retrospective.
“I thought, ‘I want to make a show of really big pictures,’ because you see male artists doing it all the time. They make a picture as big as the entire wall of the gallery. It just seemed like such a big egotistical thing. I thought, ‘I don’t know that many women that really do that…. Damn it, I’m gonna do that—make this really big picture.’”
—Cindy ShermanCindy Sherman, currently featured for 100 Artists, is seen here during the installation of her 2008 solo show at Metro Pictures in New York City. This scene is featured in the Art in the Twenty-First Century Season 5 episode, Transformation (2009).
